I suffered a stroke on 4/20/15 at the age of 27. Because of my young age and overall good health, the ER doctors tried to dissuade me from being admitted to the hospital despite my symptoms. Luckily I felt something was very wrong, and decided to be admitted to the hospital anyway. It was not until the following day (over 24 hours post-stroke) that they discovered I had had a stroke. Thanks to incredible luck, a top-notch medical team and support from friends and family, I have made a full recovery. However, there is not one day that goes by that I do not think about what could have happened if I had listened to the ER doctors and gone home. The outcome could have been drastically different.
